Service profiles
The initial impetus to establish business related to embedded systems
finds its roots in the mid-1980s.
Real-Time Consult was established to provide consulting and publishing
support services in support of VMEbus-based systems..
In 1990, Real-Time User Group International (RTUSI) was created, to provide project engineering and management services.
Since 1 January 2000, the staff, capital resources and shareholdings
of RTUSI have been transferred to the new company, Dedicated Systems Experts
(abbreviated to DS-Experts).
Furthermore, the majority of the activities which were formerly carried
out within either RTUSI or Real-Time Consult, have been rationalised and
consolidated within DS-Experts.
More than half of the business is related to project supervision involving:
- analysis and architectural design,
- (supervision of) detailed system design,
- implementation subcontracting and supervision
- integration supervision
- performing quality assurance
- component performance assessment and (sub)system stress testing.
Additionally, this provides us with significant differentiation in the system consulting and engineering support service business relative to dedicated systems.
Our experience in the management coordination of industry support
groups provides proof that electronic communications continue to drive
down barriers to service purchase otherwise erected by geographic dispersion
of client and supplier.
This has motivated us to build a solid base of skills in the effective
use of internet as a tool for communication and relationship management.
We therefore have an extended skill base which confers several competitive advantages in services based around our core competencies.
In support of our strategy of global business reach, we have therefore included in our business objectives the capability for DS-Experts to operate, in structural terms, as a virtual company.
Indeed, the experts we collaborate with today, and wish to collaborate
with for tomorrow, certainly cannot be found in any single geographic location.
In keeping with our structural objective, we therefore operate as a
"virtual team" of experts.
Some operate directly from our main office in Brussels.
Others operate and reside elsewhere, worldwide.
With mission communication and interaction taking place largely over the Internet, this structure is completely transparent to our clients.
The main place of exchange and dialogue among our expert collaborators is therefore not so much the coffee room in our office, but rather, the company's Virtual Private Network (VPN).
This makes it possible:
- to access the best expert knowledge and skills within the company at any time
- to facilitate deployment of a business with global reach
